LGBTQ+ Self Defense Training in Houston
Training where you don't have to scan the room
Walking into a Texas gun range as a queer person can mean spending half your attention on the lesson and half on the room. Our classes take that weight off. Arm Your Friends is an LGBTQ+ affirming training collective in Houston, and members of the community are part of our crew, not just our customer list. You are not a guest here.
What we teach
Basics of Pistol Shooting runs $125 to $145 with everything included. The firearm, the ammo, eye and ear protection, range fees. You start from zero and at least three instructors supervise every live fire line.
Who runs this
A Black owned, community run collective with women led classes and zero NRA money. Independent on purpose, so nobody tells us who we can train.
After your first class
Alumni train together monthly. Range days, practice nights, a community that shows up for each other. The shooting skills are how we build it.

NRA Pistol and Rifle Instructor with 6 years of experience teaching beginners, organizing training, and working in community organizing. He specializes in working with brand new shooters and intermediate level shooters.

Andrea is a certified pistol instructor dedicated to creating safe, empowering spaces for women in firearms training. Through her classes, she's building a community where every student feels seen, supported, and capable.

Our training group includes Infantry veterans with combat deployments, West Point Graduates, athletes, community organizers, survivors, and more whose real world experience we draw upon to inform our classes and conversations.
